• Creare è la più grande felicità che un essere umano possa provare. Perché? Perché creando, egli si avvicina all'essenza stessa di Dio. Of course, it is not a question of comparing human creations with the divine creation but of emphasizing this truth: that happiness is found in the creative act, so in this sense artists experience the greatest feelings of happiness. You will say, 'What about mystics and scholars?' Yes, insofar as they can also be creators, they experience the same happiness as artists.
  And don't now go protesting that you have known artists who were tormented and very unhappy. What I mean when I say that artists are happy is that while they are creating, in the act of creation, they live in plenitude - and 'artist' can also be taken to mean any human being in the process of creating.
• Schöpferisch sein ist das größte Glück, das ein Mensch empfinden kann. Warum? Weil er sich im Schaffen dem Wesen Gottes Selbst nähert. Gott ist der Schöpfer und der nach seinem Bilde geschaffene Mensch kann selbst auch Schöpfer sein. Natürlich geht es nicht darum, die menschlichen Schöpfungen mit der göttlichen Schöpfung zu vergleichen; es geht um die Betonung der Wahrheit, dass das Glück in der schöpferischen Aktivität liegt und dass in diesem Sinne die Künstler diejenigen sind, die die größten Glücksgefühle empfinden. Ihr fragt: »Und was ist mit den Mystikern und Gelehrten?« In dem Maße, wie auch sie Schöpfer sein können, empfinden sie das gleiche Glück wie die Künstler. Wendet jetzt bitte nicht ein, ihr hättet gequälte und unglückliche Künstler getroffen. Wenn ich vom Glück des Künstlers spreche, meine ich den Moment, in dem er kreativ ist, den schöpferischen Akt, in dem der Künstler in der Fülle lebt; und unter »Künstler« kann auch jeder Mensch verstanden werden, der im Begriff ist, schöpferisch zu sein.
• Créer est le plus grand bonheur qu’un être humain puisse éprouver. Pourquoi ? Parce qu’en créant, il s’approche de l’essence même de Dieu. Dieu est le Créateur, et l’homme, qu’Il a fait à son image, peut être lui aussi créateur. Bien sûr, il ne s’agit pas de comparer les créations humaines à la création divine, mais de mettre l’accent sur cette vérité : le bonheur est dans l’activité créatrice, et en ce sens ce sont donc les artistes qui éprouvent les plus grands bonheurs.
