Creation - the key idea of this teaching / Création - idée maîtresse de l’Enseignement

• Il nostro Insegnamento può riassumersi in una sola parola: creazione. Sì, creare, ma creare cosa? Quadri? Statue? Lavorare su una tela? Lavorare il legno, il marmo? No, lavorare su se stessi. Ecco infatti la vera materia prima: se stessi, la propria materia. Uno scultore ha fatto qualche statua; benissimo, ma quando guardate lui, quando guardate il suo atteggiamento, il suo viso, vedete che egli non ha mai cercato di scolpire se stesso: ancora non è che una materia bruta. Quante persone vi mostreranno i loro quadretti, le loro canzonette e i loro poemi che riflettono unicamente il loro disordine interiore! Se ne ha abbastanza di tutti quegli artisti! Dove sono i veri artisti, pronti a iniziare il vero lavoro, a modellare se stessi interiormente? Si tratta di un lavoro sconosciuto, inedito, ma è il lavoro dell'avvenire. 
• Our teaching can be summed up in a single word - creation. Yes, creating, but creating what? Paintings, statues? Working on canvases, wood or marble? No, working on ourselves. For this is the true 'prime matter' - ourselves, our own matter. A sculptor may have created a few statues, that's fine, but when you look at the person, at their attitude, their face, you see that they've never tried to sculpt themselves: they are still only raw matter.
  No end of people will show you their little paintings, their little songs, their poems that merely reflect their inner confusion. Enough of those artists! Where are the true artists, who are ready to begin the true inner work of fashioning themselves? This is unknown work, original work, but it is the work of the future.
• Unsere Lehre kann mit einem einzigen Wort zusammengefasst werden, dem Wort Schöpfung. Ja, erschaffen, aber was? Geht es darum, Bilder und Figuren zu kreieren, Leinwand, Holz oder Marmor zu gestalten? Nein, es geht darum, sich selbst zu bearbeiten. Denn hier ist der wirkliche Rohstoff zu finden: bei sich selbst, bei der eigenen Materie. Ein Bildhauer hat einige Statuen geschaffen, ja gut, aber wenn ihr ihn anschaut, ihn selbst, seine Haltung, sein Gesicht, dann seht ihr, dass er noch nie versucht hat, sich selbst zu bearbeiten: Er ist noch eine rohe Materie geblieben. Wie viele Leute zeigen einem ihre kleinen Bilder, ihre Lieder, ihre Gedichte, die nichts als ihre innere Unordnung widerspiegeln. Aber man hat genug von all diesen Künstlern! Wo sind die wahren Künstler, die bereit sind, die wirkliche Arbeit zu beginnen, die darin besteht, sich selbst innerlich zu formen? Das ist zwar eine unbekannte, neuartige Arbeit, aber es ist die Arbeit der Zukunft. 
• Notre Enseignement peut se résumer en un seul mot : création. Oui, créer, mais créer quoi ? Des tableaux, des statues ? Travailler sur des toiles, du bois, du marbre ? Non, travailler sur soi-même. Car voilà la véritable matière première : soi-même, sa propre matière. Un sculpteur a fait quelques statues, très bien, mais quand vous le regardez, lui, son attitude, son visage, vous voyez qu’il n’a jamais essayé de se sculpter lui-même : il n‘est encore qu’une matière brute.
  Combien de gens vous montreront leurs petits tableaux, leurs chansonnettes, leurs poèmes qui ne reflètent que leur désordre intérieur. On en a assez de tous ces artistes ! Où sont les artistes véritables, prêts à commencer le vrai travail, à se façonner eux-mêmes intérieurement ? C’est un travail inconnu, inédit, mais c’est le travail de l’avenir.
