Molti viaggiatori, visitando paesi molto poveri, sono rimasti spesso stupiti scoprendo una popolazione allegra, sorridente, mentre nei paesi prosperi le persone hanno una faccia talmente scura! Ebbene, sì, contrariamente a ciò che si può immaginare, l’abbondanza materiale non dà tanta felicità alle persone; tutto quel mondo artificiale che esse hanno creato, le ha rese ora prigioniere. Le cose si sono spinte troppo oltre: il commercio e la finanza occupano un tale posto che non si vede più come uscire da questo ingranaggio. E mentre l’economia prospera – per così dire – gli esseri umani invece vanno in rovina.
Why do humans keep creating limitations and useless burdens for themselves? Do they not realize that by going deeper into matter they lose their joie de vivre? All the burdens they have accumulated weigh on their heart. If they would only get rid of them, their joy would return.
Visitors to very poor countries are often surprised to find happy, smiling people, whereas in prosperous countries they wear such sombre expressions! Well, it’s true; contrary to what you might imagine, material abundance does not really bring people much happiness. They have become prisoners now of this whole artificial world they have created. Things have gone so far and commerce and finance occupy such a prominent place that people cannot see how to extricate themselves from the system. And while the economy is said to be prospering, humans are in a state of collapse.
Warum hören die Menschen nicht auf, sich unnütze Begrenzungen und Lasten zu schaffen? Sind sie sich nicht im Klaren darüber, dass sie ihre Lebensfreude verlieren, wenn sie sich in die Materie vergraben? Alle Bürden, die sie angehäuft haben, lasten auf ihrem Herzen. Sie sollten sich davon befreien, und die Freude wird zurückkehren.
Viele Reisende, die sehr arme Länder besuchten, waren oftmals erstaunt, eine fröhliche, freundliche Bevölkerung vorzufinden, während in den wohlhabenden Ländern die Menschen so finstere Mienen machen! Aber so ist das eben, anders als man es sich allgemein vorstellt, bringt materieller Überfluss den Menschen nicht sehr viel Glück. Sie sind mittlerweile Gefangene dieser ganzen künstlichen Welt geworden, die sie sich erschaffen haben. Die Dinge sind so weit vorangeschritten, der Handel, die Finanzwelt usw. nehmen einen solchen Raum ein, dass man nicht mehr weiß, wie man aus diesem Räderwerk heraus- kommen soll. Und während die Wirtschaft angeblich blüht, gehen die Menschen zugrunde.
Pourquoi les humains ne cessent-ils de se fabriquer des limitations et des charges inutiles ? Ils ne se rendent pas compte qu’en s’enfonçant dans la matière, ils perdent leur joie de vivre ? Tous les fardeaux qu’ils ont entassés pèsent sur leur cœur. Qu’ils s’en débarrassent et la joie reviendra.
Beaucoup de voyageurs visitant des pays très pauvres se sont souvent étonnés de découvrir une population gaie, souriante, alors que dans les pays prospères les gens ont une mine tellement sombre ! Eh bien, oui, contrairement à ce qu’on peut imaginer, l’abondance matérielle ne donne pas tellement de bonheur aux gens. Tout ce monde artificiel qu’ils se sont fabriqué, ils en sont maintenant devenus prisonniers. Les choses sont allées si loin, le commerce, la finance, occupent une telle place qu’on ne voit pas comment sortir de cet engrenage. Et pendant que l’économie prospère soi-disant, les humains, eux, périclitent.
Por que é que os humanos não param de criar limitações e cargas inúteis para si mesmos? Eles não se apercebem de que, ao afundarem-se na matéria, perdem a sua alegria de viver? Todos os fardos que eles acumularam pesam no seu coração. Se se desembaraçarem desses fardos, a alegria voltará.
Muitos viajantes que visitam países muito pobres ficaram surpreendidos por verem uma população alegre, sorridente, ao passo que nos países prósperos as pessoas têm uma cara tão sombria! Pois bem, contrariamente ao que se pode imaginar, a abundância material não proporciona assim tanta felicidade às pessoas. Elas tornaram-se prisioneiras de todo esse mundo artificial que fabricaram para si próprias. As coisas foram tão longe, o comércio e a finança ocupam um papel tal, que não se vê como sair dessa engrenagem. E, enquanto a economia “prospera”, os humanos periclitam.
¿Por qué los humanos no cesan de fabricarse limitaciones y cargas inútiles? ¿No se dan cuenta de que hundiéndose en la materia, pierden su alegría de vivir? Todas las cargas que han acumulado pesan sobre su corazón. Que se liberen de ellas y la alegría regresará.

Почему люди все время создают для себя ограничения и бесполезное бремя? Они не осознают, что, погружаясь в материю, теряют свою радость жизни? Весь этот груз, который они накопили, давит на их сердце. Пусть они от него освободятся и радость вернется к ним.
Многие путешественники, бывая в очень бедных странах, удивляются, видя там радостных, улыбающихся людей, тогда как в процветающих странах у людей такие мрачные лица! Так вот, вопреки тому, что можно вообразить, материальное изобилие не дает много счастья людям. Сейчас они стали пленниками всего того искусственного мира, который они себе создали. Всё зашло настолько далеко, торговля, финансы занимают такое место, что непонятно, как выйти из этого хитросплетения. И в то время, пока экономика, так сказать, процветает, люди хиреют.
