La caratteristica propria dell’intelletto è quella di trovare nuovi argomenti, nuove soluzioni; l'intelletto cerca delle occasioni per esercitarsi, e la critica gli fornisce tali occasioni. Gli scontri non gli fanno paura: esso è costruito per resistere.
Dunque, chi si esprime attraverso il sentimento ha bisogno di essere incoraggiato, lodato. Ma non congratulatevi troppo con chi vive nel mondo del pensiero, poiché lo addormenterete ed egli non avanzerà più.
The heart and mind do not have the same requirements; each must be nourished differently and, therefore, exercised differently. Artists, whose heart and sensitivity are particularly developed, need encouragement, and they suffer when criticized. Look at the artists who have died from not being understood! Thinkers and philosophers, on the other hand, are strengthened by criticism, for the intellect makes progress in the face of opposition and obstacles. The attribute of the intellect is that it finds new arguments, new solutions. It looks for opportunities to exercise itself, and criticism supplies such opportunities. It is not afraid of confrontation, as it is built to resist.
So, those who express themselves through feeling need praise and encouragement. But do not give too much encouragement to those who live in the world of the intellect, for you will send them to sleep, and they will not progress.
Herz und Intellekt haben nicht die gleichen Ansprüche, jedes muss anders ernährt werden und muss sich auf unterschiedliche Weise üben. Die Künstler, bei denen das Herz, die Sensibilität besonders entwickelt sind, brauchen es, ermutigt zu werden; sie leiden unter Kritik. Wie viele Künstler sind gestorben, weil sie nicht verstanden wurden! Denker und Philosophen hingegen werden durch Kritik gestärkt, weil der Intellekt durch Opposition und Hindernisse vorwärtskommt. Die typische Eigenschaft des Intellekts ist, neue Argumente und Lösungen zu finden, er sucht Gelegenheiten, sich zu üben, und die Kritik bietet ihm diese Gelegenheiten. Konfrontationen machen ihm keine Angst, er ist so gebaut, dass er ihnen widerstehen kann.
Wer sich also durch das Gefühl äußert, muss ermutigt und gelobt werden. Aber beglückwünscht denjenigen, der in der Welt der Gedanken lebt, nicht zu sehr, weil ihr ihn damit einschläfert, er wird nicht mehr vorankommen.
Le cœur et l’intellect n’ont pas les mêmes exigences, chacun doit être nourri différemment et doit donc s’exercer différemment. Les artistes chez qui le cœur, la sensibilité sont particulièrement développés, ont besoin d’être encouragés ; ils souffrent de la critique. Combien d’artistes sont morts d’avoir été incompris ! Au contraire, penseurs et philosophes se renforcent par la critique, car l’intellect progresse à travers les oppositions et les obstacles. Le propre de l’intellect est de trouver de nouveaux arguments, de nouvelles solutions, il cherche des occasions de s’exercer, et la critique lui fournit ces occasions. Les affrontements ne lui font pas peur, il est construit pour résister.
Donc, celui qui s’exprime par le sentiment a besoin d’être encouragé, loué. Mais ne félicitez pas trop celui qui vit dans le monde de la pensée, car vous l’endormirez, il n’avancera plus.
O coração e o intelecto não têm as mesmas exigências, cada um tem de ser alimentado e exercitado de modo diferente. Os artistas em quem o coração, a sensibilidade, estão particularmente desenvolvidos precisam de ser encorajados; eles sofrem com as críticas. Muitos artistas morreram por não terem sido compreendidos. Pensadores e filósofos, pelo contrário, reforçam-se com as críticas, pois o intelecto progride através das oposições e dos obstáculos. Así pues, el que se expresa por los sentimientos, tiene la necesidad de sentirse animado, alabado. Pero no felicitéis mucho a aquel que vive en el mundo del pensamiento, ya que lo adormeceréis, no avanzará más.
У сердца и интеллекта разные требования, каждое надо питать по-другому и каждое должно проявляться по-разному. Художники, у которых больше развито сердце, чувство, нуждаются в том, чтобы их подбадривали; они страдают от критики. Сколько художников умерло, оставшись непонятыми! Мыслители и философы напротив крепнут от критики, ибо интеллект растет через противодействия и препятствия. Интеллекту свойственно искать новые аргументы, новые решения, он ищет способа поупражняться и критика дает ему эту возможность. Столкновения его не пугают, он создан, чтобы сопротивляться.
Итак, тот, кто проявляется через чувство, нуждается в поддержке, в похвале. Но не хвалите слишком того, кто живет в мире мысли, ибо вы его усыпите, он больше не будет двигаться вперед.
